Maggie Golf

Degen and his Grandpa have made a regular thing of having golf lessons outside in the yard. Naturally, Maggie wants to do whatever Degen does and begged me one day to go outside with them and play golf (pronounced more like “gofe”). I thought it might be fun for her, so I took her outside to see if she could play nicely with the other two.
Maggie doesn’t play golf. She invented her own game that I call “Maggie Golf.” How do you play Maggie Golf? Well, you don’t, because Maggie is the only one allowed to play when we play Maggie Golf. That’s the first rule of Maggie Golf: no one but Maggie gets near the balls or clubs. Which club does she use first? None. Second rule: no clubs, just balls.
Maggie grabbed all the balls at once, screaming if anyone got near her threatening to either help her or take a ball away. Then she threw the balls, one at a time, in any haphazard direction she chose, including at the house. I quickly decided that she’s not ready to play golf with Degen and Grandpa.
To be fair, it was her naptime and she was grumpy the day she created Maggie golf. I immediately put her in bed, and she was much more cheerful and willing to share afterwards. That said, I haven’t taken her out to try golf since, and probably won’t for a month or two.
