Distraction

Ever get distracted? This morning I was planning for this week’s home “preschool” and started looking for some supplies for a 5 Senses activity that requires paper bags. I knew my paper bags were in a box somewhere in our “storage room,” so I went on a hunt for them. I knew they were in a box with a red label, but I couldn’t find a red-labeled box that said “paper bags” on it. So, I started moving boxes around and opening boxes that looked interesting and tossing and reorganizing the things inside the boxes. In the end, I opened, re-labeled, and re-stacked about 80% of the boxes in the room. Ah!! About an hour into the process I found the box with the paper bags in it, but did I stack the boxes back up and go back to gathering my supplies? No! I had to go through more boxes and sort through things and re-label them so that I wouldn’t have to go through the process again. At some point in the process my sister called me and we discussed at length how she should prepare for her upcoming move into her first house. Here it is, hours and hours later, and my storage room is in great shape, but I haven’t finished planning my activities for our preschool tomorrow nor have I finished gathering supplies for the activity I needed paper bags for. I have no idea what I’m going to make for dinner and I have a meeting tonight that I’m unprepared for (and Degen is refusing to take his nap). Hey–I read my scriptures without allowing myself to be distracted and I’m sure that counts for something.
