Maggie is injured
Mar 31st, 2008 by Bethany
Maggie twisted her right ankle yesterday. So sad. At first I didn’t know what happened–she started crying just before sacrament meeting yesterday and wouldn’t be consoled as usual with her little upsets and falls. I’d ask her if she was okay, and instead of her usual, tearful “okay” she just shook her head and insisted on being held until she fell asleep. I noticed that she was bothered by her feet, so I took her shoes off, assuming that her shoes had gotten too small or something and I just couldn’t tell. I kept asking her if she had an “owie,” but she’d cry or stare at me blankly.
Finally, after church and after her nap when she was still super-sensitive for no apparent reason, I noticed that she wouldn’t put her weight on one of her feet. She’d fallen down a couple of times (a very common occurrence with her right now, especially when she hasn’t had a nap) just before church, so I assume it happened during one of her tumbles. I called my mom, who said to put ice on it and give her some Tylenol and wrap her ankle if she’d let me. I put ice on it and wrapped it last night, but now she won’t let me put ice on it. And we’re out of pain killer, so we’ll have to wait until tonight on that one. Maggie was up and down all night, sleeping and crying intermittently. I tried bringing her to bed with us, but she just thought that meant it was time to play and sat up and kept saying “Daddy!” trying to get him to wake up and hang out with her.
Now Maggie is crawling around, refusing to use her injured foot, happily meowing like a cat until she moves her foot or hits it on something, when she immediately screams bloody murder and requires consolation from me. Poor, sensitive baby of mine. It’s so sad to watch her hurting. I hope she heals up quickly.
