The toughest time of day

Why is it that the hours between about 5pm and 7pm are the toughest time of day? I nearly invariably get tired and grumpy and frustrated at about that time. It seems like I should be able to avoid it since I know it’s coming, but I don’t. But I can try now! So, what kinds of things can I do to try to make myself and my home relaxed and pleasant at the time I’m most tempted to be irritable? Here’s my brainstorm:
Have dinner ready and just warming in the oven or crockpot BEFORE hand–make dinner at a less tense time of day.
Set the table earlier in the day, too.
Play pretty, calming music
Have a transistional ritual of sorts–maybe brush my hair, change clothes, or go outside for a few minutes with the kids
Write something, or count my blessings
Do a quick house pickup around 4:30 to help make things calm and clean.
Read my scriptures or play the audio files from the computer.
Eat a little snack during the late afternoon to stabilize blood sugar (me and the kids).
Turn off the phone at 5pm and leave it off until 7pm
Do you have any ideas or suggestions that have worked for you? I can’t possibly be the only one who has trouble managing during the late afternoon/early evening and someone else must have figured it out.
