Sometimes having a bad start is good movitation. I’ve followed my plan so far down through “Pick up the toys in the living room” and my attitude is so much better!
Because I called to submit my work orders, they sent the Bill the Great Handyman over and he fixed a ton of stuff! The light over our front door works now, the shower in the kids’ bathroom has a good stream of hot water, the drain in my bathtub drains normally, Colin has a doorknob on his closet, the light in our storage room is fixed, the froont door doorknob is tightened, and I have a new idea of how to get my dishwasher to work.
My laundry is all folded and put away, protecting my investment in time on the clothes that I’ve managed to get dry in the first place. I have a new load in the dryer and another in the washer.
The living room floor is free of obstacles.
I’ve got a load of dishes going in the dishwasher and more clean dishes in the cupboards.
Maggie took a nap and is a much happier camper.
And because of all that, I felt motivated to get the kids into clean clothes and to get them a snack. Degen helped me pick up his toys in the living room and we played with blocks a little bit. I talked to our Cub Scout Council guy about our new pack, and I talked to our ward temple trip coordinator and coordinated a temple trip for us this weekend!
The first part of my plan served me so well that I’m moving on to the next part. I like giving progress reports…it makes me feel accomplished. :-)
I’m glad we aren’t the only one with a crummy apartment! It seems I am calling them every day with a new problem. We, too, had that same drain problem. They told me to stop putting hair in the drain!!! Yes, what I love to do in my spare time is pull out my hair and shove it down the drain.
I enjoyed reading your blog.
Hey Erin, the handyman who fixed our drain said something very similar to me about the hair in the drain! That’s funny! I asked him if there’s something I can put over the drain to keep the hair from going down and he said he didn’t know of anything. I guess I’ll just keep asking them to come fix the drain, they’ll do it, and they’ll keep telling me to quit putting hair down there. A little silly, but manageable.
Hey Tanny -
So, I was feeling a bit grumpy this evening as it’s the end of spring break and, well, my college career, and I’m feeling like haven’t accomplished nearly enough.
In trying to find a cheering activity, I knew you’d have something bright and happy here. And look - here it is!
Thanks for sharing your motivation with the rest of us! I love you!
