I’ve been surprised as I’ve looked on the statistics page for my blog that nearly everyone who comes here is searching for Primary Sharing Time ideas. I sure hope that what you find here is useful! I’ve already prepared my lesson for this week, but I’m also doing the 4th week of the month. We’re supposed to have a class sharing time presentation once a month, and in our ward we’ve decided to make that the last week of the month. Since I’m a little more used to making up sharing times, and since the sharing time outline for the year only has four weeks of sharing time plans (even though there are five weeks this month), I’ve decided to let the teacher of the class doing the presentation use the fourth lesson plan in the outline and I’ll make my own up for the month.
The monthly theme for March is:
Jesus Christ is my Savior. “And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world” (1 John 4:14).
During other weeks we’ll be discussing the following topics, according to the Outline:
- Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Savior of all mankind
-
Jesus Christ loves me. Because of His Atonement, I can repent and live with Heavenly Father again
-
Jesus Christ showed me how to do the will of Heavenly Father
-
Jesus Christ lives today. He will come again
The Friend magazine, as always, is a very helpful resource for more Sharing Time ideas. I think I’m going to combine a couple of those lessons in my own way to make a lesson about “Jesus loves me and I can show my love for him.”
Here’s my plan:
Ask the children to listen for the phrase that begins with “I believe” as they sing “The Church of Jesus Christ” (p. 77). When they have discovered the phrase “I believe in the Savior, Jesus Christ,” write it on the chalkboard.
Prepare four stations for the children (see “Stations,”TNGC, 179). At each station, invite a teacher to relate a scripture story about the Savior showing love for someone and them showing love for the Savior. Some good stories: the ten lepers, Lehi’s family leaving Jerusalem, Alma the Younger meets an angel and goes on a mission, Jesus blesses the children in the Americas and the people are righteous for four generations. Sing the chorus to ”I Feel My Savior’s Love” (p. 74) to signal to the children when it is time to move to the next station.
Show “What Think Ye of Christ?” from the Family Home Evening Video Supplement 2 (item no. 53277000). Bear your testimony of the Savior.
Bethany,
Thanks for posting your ideas for the 5th Sunday. I am the primary Pres. in Minot ND. I got on the internet to find an idea for it because there is not an idea in the freind and I am not feeling creative at the moment.
I read you “bad morning” posting and it was nice and comforting to me. I have 6 kids ages 8,7,6,4,3, and 5 months. My hasband is in the Air Force and babysits the ICBM’s. Dumbest job ever-glad he is there to keep us all safe, but hate that he is gone for four days at a time sitting in a missile silo. As hard as I try my house always seems to be in an uproar! You don’t seem to give youself have the credit you deserve. It seems to me that you are very creative and on top of things. I’m more of a leave it to the last moment and try and make things work.
Anyway, I appreciate you thinking up a shring time idea for me! Best of luck to you and your family.
