Whole peas do not belong in burritos

Last night I made burritos for dinner. I made the filling out of black beans, leftover cooked chicken, and salsa with some garlic and onion powder thrown in with some salt and pepper. As I was finishing, I looked around to make sure I didn't miss something and noticed some leftover frozen peas and carrots from a couple of night before and figured, what the heck? So I tossed them into the burrito filling thinking that no one would notice the extra nutrients. Then I wrapped the filling up in tortillas and served it with lettuce, diced tomatoes and avocados, and more salsa. I threw a little bit of ranch dressing on mine since we didn't have any sour cream (a little trick that seems to work for me in quite a few settings).
Unfortunately, I forgot about the added "texture" of whole peas. As I took my first bite of burrito, a pea exploded in my mouth. Normally that would be fun, but it was so unexpected that it was unpleasant. The tastes worked fine together, but popping burritos are just weird. So, if you're going to add peas to your burrito filling, I recommend squishing them or pureeing them first. Then it would probably be really good.
