We had our first practice for our ward Primary Sacrament Meeting Presentation yesterday during Sunday School and Relief Society/Priesthood. I learned that children have a really, really hard time staying in one place for two hours, even if they get to wiggle and move around occasionally. I learned that it's definitely not a good idea to plan things so that when they get up to go to the podium or come back from the podium they have to climb over other children. I learned that if you stand at the back of the room trying to get them to sing louder they won't notice you if the chorister is between you and them. I learned that it's a good idea to have extra people in the nursery so they have a runner to tell you if they need help. I learned that it's important to have practices for the program (it's a good thing it's traditional to have practices). I learned that practicing for the program makes me tired.
I was also reminded that no matter what the kids do on the stand, they want to do well and they're delightfully cute even when they're messing around or messing up. I'm excited that our kids know their music as well as they do and that I could understand most of the words they said. I am grateful to not have to do this alone–thanks to all the teachers and substitute teachers and my counselors and secretary we'll be just fine during the presentation.
