Primary Singing Time Ideas
Sep 27th, 2007 by Bethany
I just Googled "Primary Singing Time ideas" and got a link to this site: http://www.theideadoor.com/. It has all sorts of great Primary ideas, including Singing Time ideas (which is what I'm doing this week).
I think my favorite is the "Music Measles" idea that I may try this week. You put red stickers on the music leader and the presidency, then tell the kids you have the "music measles" and that it's very contagious. Then you start singing the songs and as you see kids sing you take stickers off the adults and put them on the kids and at the end you see who got the most measles.
There are also ideas on the site for Nursery music and for other organizations in the Church.
Hi Bethany,
I just wanted to share my favorite singing time. I shared the scripture from D&C 25 about how the song of the righteous is a prayer, and it will be answered with a blessing upon their heads. I told the kids that today, they were going to see what that was like. I brought an umbrella and a squirt bottle. I let a really reverent kid hold the umbrella, and then as we sang a song, I would squirt at the umbrella. If the kids sang really well, then I squirted a lot. If they forgot the words, or sang soft, I hardly squirted the water at all.
It was a lot of fun. It might have been a little rowdy, but hopefully none of those kids forgot.

Thanks Marla, great idea! I can just imagine the reaction of the kids to water in the church. I think I might put a towel on the floor for the kids to stand on, but maybe it’s not necessary since it’s just a spray bottle.
