This morning the kids and I went to Story Time at Laman Library. Yes, the big library in North Little Rock is called Laman. It sounds a little bit like a weird twist on being an LDS name, but I'm 99% sure it's unrelated. I'd definitely recommend going to Story Time at this library if you have little ones at home in the morning, since my kids had such a great time. They have them Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at 10am–just show up!
During Story Time at our library, one of the Children's Librarians takes everyone to the little theater area in the library and reads stories to the kids. Today the librarian read several books about animals, recited nursery rhymes, played ring-around-the-rosie, went on a bear hunt around the room, performed the story of one of the books, and then lead the children in doing a simple craft project. Degen especially liked the performance part and the bear hunt when they found a stuffed animal bear and then ran away so the bear wouldn't catch them. Maggie just wanted to explore the room, but nobody seemed to mind that. They sang Happy Birthday to the children who'd had birthdays over the summer and to those whose birthdays are this month.
William F Laman was the mayor of NLR for the 15 years during which the library was envisioned and dedicated. –Colin
