FHE on Journals
May 7th, 2007 by Bethany
We had FHE today on keeping journals. We have FHE on Monday mornings now that Colin is working in the evenings, so it's a little different. It was an impromptu lesson given by Colin, where he talked about how it's a good idea to write helpful and interesting things in your journal for your posterity so that they will learn from it and want to do genealogy because of it (I'd never thought of that before). Then he had us all "write" in our journals. I actually pulled my real journal out and wrote in it and let Degen color with crayons on a couple of pages, and Colin wrote (or pretended to write) on the back of a flier he found on the table. He said his email "Sent" box is his journal.
We played Ring Around the Rosies for our activity and our closing song and Degen was very pleased about it. Our opening song was "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes"–the favorite song at the moment. We had ice cream as a treat (Colin had a burger) and it was a grand success. It's nice to have a husband who is also a natural at teaching. It makes the last-minute lessons good despite the lack of preparation.
