We had a very busy morning. First, I went to our Stake Young Women leadership training at 8am, after dressing and feeding myself and the kids. Colin worked through the night to get a project done so he wouldn't have to go to work this morning. At our Stake Young Women leadership training, where the Stake Relief Society and Young Women presidencies decided to hold joint opening exercises to talk about helping Young Women transition into Relief Society. Apparently it's a really tough transition and they're concerned that some ladies aren't making it through. They encouraged us to emphasize the awesome things about Relief Society to the girls so they're just as excited to transition to RS as they are when they move from Primary to Young Women.
For camp, our stake is having each ward memorize a section of The Living Christ statement put out by the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Then, when they get to camp, they'll have everyone say the part they memorized aloud, one after the other in order. We practiced with just the leaders this morning and it was really neat. Sometimes things are more powerful when you hear them than when you just read them.
Then Colin and I met at the church because I signed us up to take a turn helping to clean the church. We were in charge of cleaning the bathrooms and the outside doors. I was shocked to notice up close and personal how clean they already were! It took less than 45 minutes to clean up the entire building with only three families helping.
Then we went to our ward activity, which was at a roller skating rink called Classic Skate. I hadn't been skating in years, but it was fun. Colin suggested pushing the stroller to help me balance, and that really helped me regain my confidence. We skated for a couple of hours, with Degen in the stroller and Maggie napping on the sidelines in her car seat. Afterward the whole ward went to the park and had a hot dog lunch and played on the playground. Degen still isn't a huge fan of the swings, but he's starting to catch on. He really liked walking around on the playground equipment and going down the slides and walking across the bridge.
