Cute things my kids are doing

Today Degen learned to say "E," as in the letter E. Then he talked to my sister Emily on the phone and learned to say her name.
A friend of Colin's says "Whaaaaa?" (the pitch rises near the end) when he means "what?" and Colin's taken to copying his idiosynchrasy for fun. Now Degen says "whaaaaaa?" too instead of "what?" He also says "Huuuuuuh?" with the pitch rising at the end. Very funny, but hard to describe in writing.
On the Scooby Doo movie there's a part where Shaggy says to the gang "let's all put our hands in the middle, raise them up, and say woo-hoo-hoo! like the old days" or something like that. Degen now says "Woo Hoo!" and raises his hand in the air every time he's excited about something he's accomplished.
Degen can now open the door to his room unassisted. It's a good thing we decided to start teaching him to sleep in his bed with the door open, because it was only a couple of days before he learned to open the door. So far he hasn't learned the front or back door…I'm starting to get nervous about him learning that, though, because he's always trying to get us to take him out and I'm afraid he'll learn to get out himself and run outside without telling me. I guess every parent has to deal with that sometime, though.
Maggie has decided it's fun to squeal and scream. She screams while she chews on her teething stuff. She squeals while she smiles and while she cries. She squeals and screams when she sees me and when she doesn't. Lots of vocalizing around our house.
