Betty Crocker vs. Better Homes and Gardens vs. Kraft

I looked up www.bettycrocker.com today. I was thinking about how I liked my Betty Crocker Cookbook better than my Better Homes and Gardens cookbook, but that I never use Betty because my youngers siblings tore it up years ago when I was home. So, I thought I'd look it up and see how much it costs. I forgot that Betty Crocker makes food, too, so it was funny to go to their site and see ads for ready-made frosting. Then I discovered that she has a diabetic cookbook out–I'd like to try it sometime. Anyway, the cookbook I was looking for is priced reasonably and I'll probably pick up a new copy someday.
As I looked at the Betty Crocker site, it occurred to me that I think I like www.kraftfoods.com better because they send me a free magazine that's actually useful and they don't even spam me. You have to buy Betty Crocker magazines. Maybe a silly reason to prefer one site over another, especially since the content and layout is very similar. Of course, Better Homes and Gardens is all about paid magazine subscriptions, but I like the contrast of not having the brand bias in the ingredients lists. I actually buy a subscription to Better Homes and Gardens magazine and really enjoy it, but the problem with both the magazine and www.bhg.com is the ads. The site has tons of pop up ads that drive me absolutely crazy. But I like the content, so I go there anyway.
