Learning Joomla!

Today I was trying to help Colin design a web page in Joomla! I read the whole manual (186 pages) and still didn't catch on to half of it because I don't "speak" code. Every program has a different set of jargon for the same stuff. Like, in WordPress they have "plugins" but in Joomla! it's "extensions" or "modules." And I still haven't figured out the differences between a module, a component, and a mambot. I don't understand why I get Mambo pages when I Google "joomla," either. They must be related somehow, but you have know to know, you know?
Once I finally started catching on, things got easier and making changes to the page started to be relatively simple. I love open source software because it's free, but I really do think that it's not as elegant or user-friendly as the stuff you pay for. Or maybe I'm just not used to it or I'm just not a programmer. The page we're making is going to be really nice once we figure out the colors and fonts and how to get the top menu bar to show up. I love how dynamic the content is and how easy it is to add content. So, good job, Joomla!, even though I was pretty upset earlier today.
